Tonight's Homework 11/28

Welcome back families,

I hope the Thanksgiving Break was as festive for you as it was for me.  Today, I noticed academically active students who were ready to learn.  This made me feel so happy to know that we all came with the purpose to learn.  Reminder: Friday is Early Dismissal.  Expect to have your child's interim come home.  All grades for me will be updated no later than Wednesday.

Here is tonight's homework:
Reading: Work on Book Club assignment and read 20 min
(There will not be a Reading Log this week.  If you look at the grade book, several students have not turned in Reading Logs.  This will give your child the opportunity to work on the alternate assignment that will go home tomorrow.)

Math: Complete Lesson 18 and 19; Study 6's multiplication- Quiz Thursday
These two lessons may be difficult.  If your child does not understand it is okay.  Just have them do what they can in the meantime.  Here are some links to help and to practice these concepts:
Lesson 18: Break It Up: Number Bonds
Math Chat
Tower of Power

Lesson 19: Break It Up: Arrays
Math Chat
Tower of Power

Social Studies: Review Chapter 2: Native Americans- Open book and notes test on Thursday
Your child has been instructed that even though this is open notes and book, they need to at least read Chapter 2.  We have read most of this in class, but all information on the test is coming from both the book and the notes they took.  They can use the 20 minutes of reading time to read their Social Studies textbook.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me.

One more homework thing... 11/7

Good afternoon,

I added one more thing to their homework.  We were writing Tanka Poems about SC Regions.  Students were to follow this format for the poem.  They are to use their resources that has information about the different regions to write a poem about just two regions.  They are to write two separate poems.  Each line must follow the syllable pattern but may be either a sentence or key words that describe the region's unique features.  Students should have brought home their SS textbook, journals (with the regions song and map), and a reading passage on SC Regions.

Here is the format:
