School Improvement Council

SIC.png
The Forest Lake Elementary School Improvement Council, SIC, invites you to be an active member of this committee.  The mission of the School Improvement Council, in partnership with families and the community, provides a safe, nurturing environment for the growth and development of young children through a curriculum that demands academic excellence, encourages positive self esteem, and promotes responsible citizenship.  The purpose of the SIC will be to assist the school in meeting its objectives, assist in the preparation of the five year plan, and the annual update required to assist in the development and monitoring of school improvement and innovation.

The School Improvement Council also provides an Annual School Summary Report to parents each year.

The School Improvement Council is composed of elected and appointed parents and community members who have a strong desire to see Forest Lake Elementary be the best it can be.  If you are interested in being a candidate for the SIC, please fill out the Google Form or send a note to your child's homeroom teacher.

Completed self-nomination forms are due by Monday, September 11, 2017.

Then on Tuesdays, send money with your child to school for them to deposit into his/her account.
They’s even get a cool Spend & Save Piggy Bank for joining!

Measures of Academic Progress
(MAP)
Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) is a computerized test that is adaptive -
the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions.
Students at Forest lake take this assessment starting in second grade.
Richland Two schools administer a math and reading assessment
each Fall (September) and Spring (March).
Teachers use the results of the assessment to assist with instructional planning.
It is also used to measure growth over time.
Our assessments are given five months apart, so we must keep that in mind when using to see growth
The assessment’s creators have a  Parent Toolkit web page that you may visit for additional information.

Assessment Schedule
Tuesday, September 12th - Reading
Monday, September 18th- Math

If there are any changes to our calendar due to the weather, you will be notified.
